چکیده

In this issue, Gafni et al.1 provide a strong and timely case for evaluating the reliability and validity of multi-station selection centres (SCs, sometimes referred to as assessment centres). In developing this important research topic, we highlight: (i) important differences between SCs and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs); (ii) the importance of demonstrating the construct validity of selection methods, and (iii) psychometric issues surrounding the reliability of observer ratings and the use of generalisability theory (G theory).

Intensive Artificial Selection Jeopardizes Animals, Well-Being: A Short Review

Domestication of animals has had some important effects on physiology, morphology, behavior and well-being of domesticated animals. Conscious or goal directed selections on animals for increasing their productions has accelerated the rate of the changes, leading to some well-being defections. This paper notes some aspects of animal domestication in context of genetic science. Then explains how ...

Assessing critical attributes of prospective teachers: Implications for selection into initial teacher education programmes

In this article, we present an overview of a research programme that is focused on reliably and validly measuring non-cognitive attributes associated with teacher effectiveness for the purpose of selection into ITE programmes. The novel contribution of this programme of research is that it builds on research and theory from educational psychology, methodology from organisational psychology, and...

Interval MULTIMOORA method with target values of attributes based on interval distance and preference degree: biomaterials selection

A target-based MADM method covers beneficial and non-beneficial attributes besides target values for some attributes. Such techniques are considered as the comprehensive forms of MADM approaches. Target-based MADM methods can also be used in traditional decision-making problems in which beneficial and non-beneficial attributes only exist. In many practical selection problems, some attributes ha...

The Effect of Dynamic Permeability on Velocity and Intrinsic Attenuation of Compressional Waves in Sand

Stress waves contain useful information about the properties of porous materials; they can be recovered through different non-destructive testing methods such as crosswell, vertical seismic profile, borehole logging as well as sonic tests. In all these methods, it is crucial to assess the effects of frequency on wave attributes including velocity and intrinsic attenuation. The dependency of per...
